Q: How do I add new pages and content to my site?

A:

Navigate to the pages tab. Your navigation may look different than that below due to which pages your site owner has allowed you to see.

Along the left of the page you will see types of pages you can add to the system. The Content Page is any page that contents text, images, etc. External Pages link to outside URLs giving you the ability to link to other possible apps and sites. Modules are listed below. Note! The directory and bulletins module must be located as sub pages of the members area module. They will appear on the left once you have added the Members Area.

The pages you've added will display in a list view. From left to right you have the page name, last date modified, visibility, info, edit and delete. The visibility box will have a green checkbox in it when it is visible on the frontend. You can click the box to toggle between.

The image below shows what the edit page looks like on a Content Page. For the other types of pages you will see a watered down version of this page. Some sections aren't needed for each type of page.

On the edit page:
In the top section, the top drop down will set what type of page it should be. The drop down on the bottom tells our system if the page is a main navigation page or a sub navigation page. Sub navigation pages are shown in a drop down or side navigation bar in the front end of your website. The final two checkboxes in this section tell us to display the page in the navigation of your site and/or in the mini navigation of your site. (only some themes will have mini navs, check the notes of your theme)

The next section down shows the page title, filename and sequence number. The page title is used in the navigation of your site and also is used as the meta title for your page. The filename is used to determine what page you are on. This must be unique. If you put in something not allowed our system will remove it for you. The page sequence tells our system where to put the page in the navigation. A page sequence of 100 will show before a page sequence of 200 and so on. The Sequence Helper shows you the sequences of the pages directly affected to that page. Main pages and sub pages have their own sequence.

The next box is the meta information. You can override the page title by putting a new title in the Meta Title field. You can also add a description to your page and some keywords that help in Search Engine Optimization. These fields are not mandatory and default values can be setup on the 'Settings Tab'

The last section is the content box area. The default setup is the FCKeditor. This is a very powerful open source HTML editor. I cover the many features of it in the FCK Editor FAQ. It is setup similar to word and gives you the ability to add tables, images and other items. In 'Your Settings' located at the top right of your Admin Interface you can change the editor that you wish to use. We have a few to chose from include just a regular text box for all you HTML gurus out there.
